Owner
Hello! I’m Dr. Bunting, the owner of Kindred Animal Hospital. I’ve known since I was about five years old that I wanted to be a veterinarian. I still remember going to my kindergarten career fair dressed as a vet and getting upset when people thought I was a medical doctor! Honestly, I think this profession chose me—it’s always felt like my destiny. I’ve been drawn to animals, science, and medicine for as long as I can remember.
My practice philosophy is to incorporate each individual pet’s and family’s needs while providing the highest quality medicine available. I strive to strengthen the human-animal bond by keeping your pet happy and healthy throughout every life stage. I strongly believe in decreasing my patients’ stress while in the hospital and want them to feel at home when they visit us. One of the best parts of being a veterinarian is you can love on your patients!
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Texas A&M University, then moved to the West Coast to attend Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California, just east of Los Angeles. After graduating from veterinary school, I completed a one-year internship in Los Angeles and began working in general practice just south of LA. In 2013, I moved back home to Texas and later opened Kindred Animal Hospital in 2019.
What is your favorite part about your job?
My favorite part of the job is working with patients who hate coming to the vet. After all, who would want to visit someone who pokes them with needles? We completely understand how stressful it can be for both pets and their owners, so we do everything we can to make visits easier and more positive.
You’ll often hear me say that I’m not above bribing them to like me! I’m all about cheese, peanut butter, and Churu treats for cats. We even keep toys and balls in the rooms to help dogs relax and get comfortable before we start exams. For especially anxious pets, we can also offer sedation before their visit to help take the edge off and make the experience less stressful for everyone.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Contrary to popular belief, I don’t work all the time! When I’m not at the hospital, I love staying active. I enjoy going to the gym, practicing yoga, playing pickleball, and spending time outdoors—whether it’s hiking, walking, or soaking up the sunshine near the water. I share my life with three wonderful pets: Tillie, my dog who comes to work with me every day, and my two orange tabby brothers, Lynx and Linus.
I’m so excited to meet you and welcome you into our Kindred family!
